How To Know You Are Going To Heaven
Yes, You Really Can Know For Sure!
Many people don't know that the Bible gives us a way to have assurance of our place in heaven. God loves us and has a perfect plan for us.
What Does The Bible Really Say?
We may have been taught in church that we are saved by our baptism, confirmation, or following the catechism or other doctrine. Or perhaps you believe that if the good in your life outweighs the bad, you will make it into heaven. However, if you refer to the original source of God's Word, the Bible, you will find that we cannot earn our own way.
Jesus said "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." John 14:16
We Have All Sinned
"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23
"Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned" Romans 5:12
"As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one." Romans 3:10
"They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one." Romans 3:12
"But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear." Isaiah 59:2
The Penalty for Sin is Death
"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23
It started here:
"But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die." Genesis 2:17
And the consequences were:
"Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:" Romans 5:12
You Can't Earn Your Own Way to Heaven
"For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God." Romans 10:9
"But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away." Isaiah 54:6
"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." Ephesians 2:8,9
"Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin." Romans 3:19,20.
"Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it." Matthew 7:13,14
Jesus Paid the Penalty for You
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16
"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him." Romans 5:8,9.
"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23
"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God" Ephesians 2:8
God's Gift to You
"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." Romans 10:9
"For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." Romans 10:10
"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." Romans 10:13
"Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Matthew 7:7,8
What Repentance Is: Changing Your Mind About Sin
"I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance." Luke 5:32
"Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth." Luke 15:10
"The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." 2 Peter 3:9
A New Life
"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." 2 Corinthians 5:17
"My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. I and my Father are one." John 10:27-31
"Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them." Matthew 7:20
"Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?" Second Corinthians 13:5
Where Do I Go From Here?

Let someone know of your decision:
"Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven." Matthew 10:32
It can be very helpful to find other believers to fellowship with. God speaks of the importance of this in his word:
"And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching." Hebrews 10:24,25
